Former Biden Security Contractor Arrested In Fatal San Fran Shooting

A 25-year-old man identified as Nation Wood has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco, according to authorities. The incident occurred Tuesday night in the city’s Sunset District, where police responded to a residence around 10:43 p.m. and found 22-year-old Samantha Emge suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital but later died from her injuries.

Wood was taken into custody the following day and booked on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. As of Friday, he remained in county jail while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting continued. Officials have not yet released full details about what led to the incident, and authorities say the case remains active.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Wood described himself as a part-time security contractor with experience supporting protective teams associated with high-level government figures. He claimed to have worked alongside teams connected to Joe Biden beginning in late 2023 and to have continued similar work into 2025 during the administration of Donald Trump. His profile listed his role as an “independent pre-event site security advisor,” stating that he conducted site assessments and coordinated logistics for events involving high-profile attendees, including collaboration with the United States Secret Service.

However, a spokesperson for the Secret Service said that Wood was never employed by the agency, and authorities have not confirmed any official affiliation between him and federal protective services. His background also includes graduating from San Francisco State University in 2024 with a degree in political science and government, as well as prior work as a property manager at a self-storage facility.

Social media posts show Wood posing with public figures, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, during a 2024 event near a presidential aircraft. In one post, he referenced assisting with security planning tied to activities surrounding the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit hosted in San Francisco.

Emge, the victim, was a 2025 graduate of San Francisco State University and worked in interior design. Social media and statements from friends indicate she and Wood were in a relationship, with photos showing the pair together on multiple occasions, including trips following her graduation.

Local official Supervisor Alan Wong stated that early information suggests the shooting may not have been intentional. Authorities continue to investigate the case and have not yet determined the full sequence of events leading to Emge’s death.
